I am a Woodstock (Atlanta), Georgia, freelance photographer who has been making photographs since the
4th grade. I was a music major (concentration in music theory, ear training and dictation) in college who
got a part-time job at the hometown newspaper and worked in photojournalism for 37 years.
I am a member of the Kansas City Times 1982 Pulitzer Prize winning staff that won
Local General or Spot News Reporting
for coverage of the Hyatt Regency Hotel disaster.
In addition to placing in the top three and top 10 portfolios in the Pictures of the Year contest, I am the 1987 Missouri
Press Photographer of the Year and 1991 Runner-up Georgia Press Photographer of the Year.
I have won First Place General News/Documentary Photo in the Pictures of the Year contest.
While working for the Simi Valley Enterprise in California we won the "Best of Photojournalism" for all circulation categories from the California Newspaper Publishers Association.
Most recently I had a photograph of Ansel Adams with his assistant Alan Ross featured in the book "Ansel Adams' Yosemite: The Special Edition Prints" that came out in October 2019, and
I had photographs along with other photographers featured in a documentary film called
"East Lake Meadows A Public Housing Story"
by Sarah Burns and David McMahon and produced by her father documentarian Ken Burns.
I've authored Frank's photo list since 1994,
making it one of the web's best photo references.
